| my problem with remakes is (and always has been) I compare the new version with the old one. 1982 was the year of the first Poltergeist, and upon its release, most viewers squirmed in horror for the Freeling family, esp, Carol Ann. that Poltergeist was a narrative that brilliantly built upon itself, by utilizing little more than a color television set w/remote, for technological and dramatic effects. this version, utilizing current technological devices at every opportunity, seemed flat in the direction and the performances of the actors. out of 5, I scored this film at 3. good night and good luck. |
